I’ve got a new poster to show you, it’s for the last Emerge night of the year.

Consider the next image a ‘B-side’ of sorts…  The anatomy and proportions are annoying the hell outa me, so it’s been scrapped. Wanted to share it with you anyway.

Also, here’s a photo from Lucky Duck’s wonderful Sunday evening.

Finally, some time over the next month I’ll be clearing my storeroom, and giving away a few artist proofs and originals. To find out when this is happening, keep an eye on my facebook page.

I’ll be drawing on Lucky Duck Espresso’s tables with friends and foes, on Sunday the 28th. It’s shaping up to be a rad afternoon.

I’ve also been invited to join a few more group shows over the next couple of months. Stay tuned for more info and sneak previews.

First up! I got to create a poster for two of my favourite bands. This was a collab. with the uber-talented Davros, and you’ll be seeing more poster stuff from this guy in the near future.

Earlier in the month I got to speak at Brisbane’s Pecha Kucha night. It was a great night, and the other speakers had some amazing work on show. Unforutnately I can’t remember much else about the night. It’s all a nervous blur. The Powerhouse bar mixes a damn fine Gin and Tonic though.

Next up was the BADC showcase, you can find photos of the night here. I don’t wanna repeat myself, but it was another night full of awesome work, and rad people. Brisbane (and the Gold Coast) just keeps surprising me with the amount of talent and creative energy.

Then there was the Wallflowers show, put on by Holly Leonardson. She’s got a few photos of the night up on her Flickr page. I always like having stuff on show at Bleeding Heart Gallery. It’s a beautiful old Queenslander style building and they do great coffee.

Sprinkl was the next big night, and I was doing a drawing challenge with Kalin Thompson (yes, that guy). You can see some progress shots over on the Sprinkl facebook page. Well, somehow I ended up winning the challenge, so a big thankyou to everyone who voted for me, and a very special internet high-five to the Salt crew for putting on such a fun night as always. Sprinkl is definitely my favourite design meet-up, and you should keep your eye out for the next one.

So that’s about where I’m up to… next up is the ETCC Remix exhibition at Shooting Gallery. I’m spending the weekend putting the finishing touches on my piece, and I’m really excited to be involved in this show. You can find out all the info at the FB event page. Actually, that same night some friends of mine are also having a show at Bleeding Heart.

And then FINALLY… on August 11th, I’ll be sharing Comb Gallery’s new space with Marie Ellis OAM finalist, Kylie Spear. More on this to come though.

And that’s about it for now. Time to get back to work.

Wallflowers is next week. Little sneak previews have been popping up on facebook from some of the artists and it’s looking pretty rad. I’ve also noticed that my pile of lineart is getting a bit out of control, so if you can find me on the night, and can beat me in rock paper scissors*, you can have one of the line drawings.

I’ve also made a facebook page. I’m a bit burnt out by this whole social networking thing but I know a few people like to use it to find out what I’m up to, so I’ll make sure this new page is kept up to date.

And that’s about it for now. I’m gonna head on down to the markets for olives and filone, then get straight back into inking and colouring.

*It’ll be best-of-three and I’ll only have a couple of drawings on me, so once they’re gone, they’re gone.

I also wanna tell you about the Sprinkl Design-Off that I’ll be taking part in. It’ll be me versus Kalin Thompson, as we battle over a couple of giant canvases for 90 minutes.  I’m definitely gonna need to bring my A-game, the guy’s got some mad skills. If you’re in Brisbane on the 21st, pop on down to New Farm and check it out.

I’ll probably be posting more work-in-progress stuff throughout the month, so stay tuned for more updates.

You can also view the Mixer Night prints at Vinyl Bar till the 3rd of July. After that I’ll be adding the remaining stock to the online shop.
